Welcome friends, family, or random visitor!
Here is what I hope to accomplish with this post: (1) Where this whole concept came from, (2) where it is now, (3) and where i see it going. So, I’ll start by expanding on the about us page, which is a brief summary about ISAD.
Starting in August of 2007 I started feeling a burden to help our youth group be accountable to Gods word. With that burden also came the not so shocking reality check that i wasn’t very good at devotions either. As a matter of fact, the one thing that kept popping into my head about my devotional history was, I stink at devotions, hence the domain name, iStinkatDevotions.com. To help our youth group, and eventually me, I started thinking about how I enjoy doing web development. Ideas started popping into my head (Gods inspiration) of ways I could create online accountability. With accountability, you need accountability partners, or AP/Friends as we call them here. As I started designing the site, I realized that it could be used by other youth groups. As I continued to design the site, i started thinking about more and more groups of people that could potentially use the site. Church staffs, youth groups, Sunday schools, small groups, brothers and sisters, husband and wives, family’s, and many more… I also, admittedly, had selfish entrepreneurial aspirations for the site, then realized that wasn’t what this was about. I guess that pretty much wraps up #1, the where. Now on to #2.
So, right now only a handful of people are using/testing the site for me. I’ve gotten some awesome constructive criticism about how to make the site easier to navigate, etc… I’m hoping now for some “real” users to test it out. I don’t as much care where the users come from, friends, family, random or UFO’s, but I would like to give the site a good test beating and see how she survives. I’m on a low end web package for now, seeing how the traffic will be minimal at first, and maybe forever. I’ll deal with more traffic if that becomes an issue later. So, if you are new to the site, please register, kick the tires in the my devotion area, my blog, and dashboard area. Let me know what you think. That wraps up #2, on to the future!
Well, since i’m not so good at predicting the future, I’ll just say this: If this site keeps one person accountable to God’s word, then it was worth all the effort. As for God’s purpose for this site, I’m not sure yet. I don’t know if it’s user friendly enough for youth, middle age, or older folks. That’s where i need you all to help:) As for the rest, I’ll leave it at the feet of Jesus and let him sort it out. He can lead, I’ll follow.
