Nice. So often I wonder what else I could have done or said...it is really not my job to convert someone...my job is to share the gospel and then the Holy Spirit takes over...

Being judgemental is about justifying me. I was a critical, judgemental, law preaching person, because I saw what others did and did not want to do the same, but I failed to see that I was doing the very same things. I was trying through my own effort and strength to be a good christian. We are constantly fed this from our earliest days in sunday school. If I try a bit harder I will begin to overcome sin and I will be better equipped to serve the Lord. This is a completely false teaching and it is not at all what is taught by Paul. It can best be described as Ladder Religion, where I through my own effort and self will, determine to be the best person I can possibly be and by doing so I will be closer to God and God will accept me.
Your thoughts about what Jesus taught on being judgemental are quite correct. It comes down to the Golden Rule. But there is one further thing that must be taught or learned and that is that we can do nothing about it ourselves. (Ref: Romans 7) Both Jesus and Paul teach the principle of being "in Christ," and "Christ in me." When this principle is fully developed, we may say with strong conviction, I will not attempt to do anything for God in my own strength ever again, but only by the will of Christ who dwells within me. It has taken many years, much struggling to no avail and finally good Bible Study to finally solve the riddle that is Christian Life. I am in Christ, Christ is in me. Christ works through me and I consent to Him. I have and can do nothing that is not "in Christ." All that I have is by God's Grace. Everything is in Him. My ego has to go. I must not seek any of the praise or glory, it must all be His. Gal. 2:20 says, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." This way, Christ becomes love in us as we require love, joy when we require joyfulness, patience when we require patience, peace when we require peace, and so on through all the fruit of the spirit. There is no room for me, for Christ does it all.
I am not saying that I have arrived, I am still a work in progress. May God bless your ministry
Ian.
